Hello All, Grace and Peace be unto you from our LORD and SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST.
I have been homeschooling my daughter for three years using the A BEKA curriculum. A BEKA is a Christian school based in Pensacola, Fl. I really love it! They have the daily agenda, all the books, tests and quizzes, and everything a person will need for the entire school year.
My daughter is in the 9th grade now, and she is doing an awesome job! She went from D's and F's in the public school, to A's, B's and C's homeschooling. She really loves it!
My son (8 years old and in the 3rd grade) is joining us this year for the first time. He really wanted to be home-schooled, and has begged me for two years, but I could not until this year. Brandon, after begging me, has decided he wants to go back to public school(WHAT????)... Ummm...because mom keeps him on task ALL day...LOL! In the public school there is not a whole lot of one-on-one time with the kids, but at home, it is a different story. I do not think he likes me right there all day, but as he gets used to this curriculum, I will not have to be right there all the time. I know it will get better for him. It did with my daughter.
He has Bible class first, then Arithmetic, Language, Spelling, Penmanship, Reading and Science. Then we have Art every week too! There is sooooo much to this curriculum, so I hope he will come to like it. He is doing so well with it, except to voice that it is too fast paced.
I have a schedule and we must stick to it! I even put in Recess for him twice a day. We have a park outside our back door and an activity center with a basketball court to take them for some Gym time.
Well, I think it is going really well so far. I have a video of Brandon answering some questions. He did VERY well! It put a smile on mommy's face.
I know as the year progresses, he will progress forward in his academics, and make mom and dad very happy!
May GOD give every home-schooling parent the strength to get through each day with the kids. It is not always going to be fun, or easy, but in the end it will be worth it.
GOD bless you all!
Here is Brandon...

In case you're wondering I noticed some typos after I clicked publish. Anyway, Brandon is a VERY smart young man! I couldn't remember all those verses if my life depended on it. I remember the beginnings of a lot of verses, but I usually end up paraphrasing the rest! LOL! As for the grammar, my best subject was grammar and I had forgotten what a declarative sentence was. I also don't know the difference grammatically between "I want to go to the park and I need to go to the park. I thought it was neat when he corrected himself. He is adorable!
God Bless!

Thank you PJ, he is doing well in school. He is amazing at Math. I love to see his eyes light up every time he gets a "100" on his papers. And, he gets so upset if he misses any. I know he cares about his education, but does not like going through the class as with any child his age.
He will thank me later! LOL!!!
GOD bless you!

Oh my gosh, Donna! Brandon is smart, handsome, and so sweet!
I loved that you made that video of him! What a special memory for the two of you! It sounds like "mommy" is doing a great job homeschooling! You get an Attt! :D
Do ya'all have homeschool fellowship (like with other familes that homeschool)? I heard that was really good for the children to have fun, socialize with other children, and do fun activites with other familes. Maybe you know about this?
God Bless You!
